When we first visited The Citadel we knew almost immediately that it was exactly what we wanted in a venue. The gardens are glorious and colourful, and the accommodation is so homely.
During the year and a half leading up to our wedding, Alex couldn't have been more helpful, answering my endless questions at all times of day and night! The fact that The Citadel holds only a small number of weddings each year means that Alex puts her all into ensuring that her brides get exactly what they want from their wedding. Our wedding felt so unique - all of our guests commented on how wonderful a day it was. Alex allowed us to make the marquee our own but guided us where necessary to ensure everything ran smoothly. I can't thank her enough for her support and attention to every detail.

The Citadel was the perfect choice for our wedding, we had an amazing day enjoying the stunning setting and gardens. Having the flexibility to set up the marquee and use the suppliers you want made it ideal for us. Alex goes above and beyond with support during the planning process, so on the day you can really relax. Just wish we could do it all over again!

The Citadel is a beautiful and unique venue for a wedding. Our day consisted of a ceremony in the outdoor walled garden followed by food and reception in a beautiful marquee all organised by Alex.

Alex made everything so easy and stress-free that the whole wedding planning process was a dream. No question was silly and all the help and support was there. She has so much knowledge on suppliers and so many ideas that helped us along the way. Attention to detail made our day so special. We stayed in the house in the night of our wedding and had a gorgeous breakfast the next day. We will be returning for our anniversary next year to enjoy the beautiful rooms and views. Alex was incredibly hands-on and always there when we needed her. Thank you so much!!!

Our daughter Hannah was married to Mike at St Luke's Church Weston Under Redcastle. This was followed by an amazing reception in a marquee at The Citadel. The venue is stunning, absolutely beautiful. Drinks were taken in the walled garden followed by the wedding breakfast in the marquee.

We cannot believe how well everything worked. Alex from the Citadel was extremely helpful, making it such a fabulous day. The weather was glorious and we had so many compliments about the venue. Hannah and Mike were able to have the wedding they wanted; which included a wood-fired pizza van that came from Manchester supplying evening food. Wonderful!

Where do I even begin? The Citadel was the perfect location for our wedding and we fell in love from the first time we saw it. The beautiful gardens with so many colours made a stunning backdrop for our outdoor ceremony and with the freedom to select our decor, caterers, bar etc it was perfect for my Pinterest inspired DIY wedding! Our photographs are to die for and that’s largely thanks to such beautiful surroundings. Nothing I could say will give the gardens the justice they deserve. I really recommend you go see it for yourself. I must also say a few words about Alex from The Citadel. She is amazing, so supportive, answering millions of my questions, encouraging us to see as many weddings at The Citadel as possible for inspiration and going above and beyond in handling the majority of communications with my suppliers. Our amazing Wedding!! For location alone, you'd have to go long way to beat The Citadel in terms of stunning location, surrounding area and gorgeous gardens. However, even without this, you will not find a better wedding venue in terms of value and flexibility. Our wedding in June 2018 was everything we could have wanted and more. Alex is the perfect host and will go over and above, she genuinely loves weddings. I would highly recommend The Citadel for a wedding ........ can we do it again?!

We had the most amazing weekend at the Citadel celebrating our wedding. Not only was it the most beautiful venue, but Alex ensured that everything went perfectly. Alex was just fabulous, the rooms were superb, and breakfast was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone. It was both the stunning views and Alex herself that sold The Citadel to us as a wedding venue. The Citadel is a beautiful venue for a wedding, especially at the time of year that we chose as the gardens were in full bloom and created an exquisite setting. All our guests commented on the location and enjoyed walking around the gardens and having their photos taken in front of the amazing rhododendrons. Alex made planning our wedding very easy. She was always available to ask questions and extremely helpful on an actual day. We would both highly recommend The Citadel as a wedding venue.

We were lucky enough to hold our wedding reception at the Citadel in August. The venue is amazing as it the hospitality of the family! Nothing was too much trouble from the moment of booking the venue and even after the wedding! So many guests commented on how beautiful the gardens and views were. This is a dream venue for a wedding. such a unique setting. I can't stop smiling. We have just celebrated our wedding at The Citadel. I can’t speak highly enough of the facilities, location and the professionalism of the staff there. They provided us with invaluable advice on whom to use for our suppliers. It was an amazing day, such a personal experience and we do highly recommend this unique venue for your wedding. We stayed there the night in the most beautiful room, which made it even more special and had the best fry up the next morning. We thank Alex very much and wish we could do it all over again x

We recently held our wedding reception at The Citadel and it was perfect. The Griffiths family accommodated every need and were very helpful. The bridal party stayed over, and it was lovely to all have breakfast together and chat about the fantastic wedding day we had. The Citadel is first class as both a wedding venue and B&B. We have lots of happy memories, so huge thanks to Alex and her family for making our special day extra special.
