Wedding Ceremonies at The Citadel
The Citadel is not currently licensed for legal marriages. Most of our brides and grooms have married in local churches prior to arriving at The Citadel for their reception. However, we have held many very personal, non-legal ceremonies in our beautiful, walled summer garden. The quiet and tranquillity of this very special place lends itself perfectly to humanist ceremonies and blessings following a registry office or church marriage.
The Citadel is a beautiful and unique venue for a wedding. Our day consisted of a ceremony in the outdoor walled garden followed by food and reception in a beautiful marquee all organised by Alex.
Alex made everything so easy and stress-free that the whole wedding planning process was a dream. No question was silly and all the help and support was there. She has so much knowledge of suppliers and so many ideas that helped us along the way. Attention to detail made our day so special. We stayed in the house on the night of our wedding and had a gorgeous breakfast the next day. We will be returning for our anniversary next year to enjoy the beautiful rooms and views. Alex was incredibly hands-on and always there when we needed her. Thank you so much!!!
